Everyone is a VIP to someone

... and that is a truth that The Go! Team reminds me every time I listen to this song.

You may find it inside the cocktail of indie rock / alternative hip hop album "Thunder, Lightning, Strike" released in 2004. It contains other great songs, from which I specially enjoy "Huddle Formation" or the well known "Ladyflash" (I love the youtube video).

The go! Team is all but conventional, follows no rules, no trends. And to my opinion, achieves originality with no excess. Its music brings me memories of good friends and good moments (even if I was not listening to it when these happened). It has a bit of a vintage touch.

I hope you feel the same when listening to it. It is a great feeling.

And remember... No matter what ... you will always be a VIP to someone ;-)

THE Red Hot

Sorry once more. Overworking, moving places, no internet.... a mess.

Love them. Since I first met them loooong time ago. They always live up to my expectations.

And the video is awesome. I want to dance and jump like Anthony Kiedis, but my new apartment is too small ;-)

La Costa Brava

I appolgize for being missing... Still overworking ...

I just ran into this, and I had share it. It evaded me, totally. Music is the best medicine.

Menahan Street Band

I've been over working during the past weeks... but music makes it a lot more bearable. It entertains my brain and sets my rhythm. As if a compass dictated the tic tic of my fingers "brainstorming" on the keyboard.

Menahan Street Band with their "Make the road by walking" make my days at work fun. And productive. I love their beat and retro 70's style. Reminds me of "la mafia".

Flash Back

I have been listening to Joy Division all day long ... It's been constantly inside my head since I woke up... I can't help smiling as it brings back such good memories of the NYC's trashy East Village (where I used to live three years ago).

And that is another good thing about music. It can make you have a "flash back" in a second and revive particular moments or periods.

Nothing else to say :-). Enjoy your trip to the past.

Wild Honey

I just learned about this band this weekend, whilst on the road, on my way to the countryside. And I had a crush on them straight away. If I had to define their music in just one word, that would be Imaginative.

When listening to their music try to pay good attention to all the small subtle sounds that make it happen. Behind them, there is all but conventional instruments, from a small organ toy to a handsaw. Lyrics carry simple but extraordinary stories. Every single detail is being taken care of.

Wild Honey is actually Guillermo Farré. He is everything in the band: composer, player, singer, and producer. There are certainly some people in the world that are born gifted, special.

I hope you enjoy as much as I have discovering this band and going back to childhood with their music.

Their debut albu"Epic Handshakes And a Bear Hug" may be found @ http://thisiswildhoney.com/

What a Cocktail

Cause my blog, as I anticipated, is about music, all kinds of it. I just listened yesterday to this fantastic Rumba & Hip hop mix from the very well known (each of them in their register) Antonio Carmona and Mala Rodríguez.

Enjoy. Travel.

Kill The Director

Have you ever met someone that makes you feel seasick?

This is how Matthew, Dan  y Tord, also known as "The Wombat's" felt about the rom-com "The Holiday". They hated the film to the point to write and compose a song about it named "Kill the director"

Ha ha ha! Lyrics are so Funny!!! Here you go...

I've met someone that makes me feel seasick
Oh what a skill to have
Oh what a skill to have
So many skills that make her distinctive
But they're not mine to have
No they're not mine

Whenever she looks i read the nearest paper
No i don't care about the soaps
No i don't care about the soaps
Though i'm acting like i'm in an Eastenders episode

If this is a rom-com
Kill the director
If this is a rom-com
Kill the director please

Carrots help us see much better in the dark
Don't talk to girls; they'll break your heart
And this is my head and this is my spout
They work together; they can't figure anything out

So with the angst of a teenage band
Here's another song about a gender i'll never understand
Here's another song about a gender i'll never understand

If this is a rom-com
Kill the director
If this is a rom-com
Kill the director
If this is a rom-com
Kill the director please

This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget Bridget
This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget Bridget
This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget Bridget
This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget Bridget
This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget Bridget
This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget
Bridget Jones

Empire Of The Sun, Bring It To Us

Is Mr. Winter not willing to leave or is Mrs. Spring being too lazy to show up this 2012? Well, who knows ... but, as the one to decide when each of them comes and goes is this big asteroid we usually have above our heads, this post is meant to call the sun out! And who can do it better than this crazy band called after it.

EMPIRE OF THE SUN, originally from Australia, are classified to play a mix of electroacustic, pop and alternative genres in their debut album "Walking on a Dream", but honestly I think they are pure Sci Fi (music, videos, web page, outfits...  all in them is super freaky attractive). I personally enjoy "Walking on a Dream", "Half mast" and "We are the people", but I can listen to the album all way through without getting tired.

The band is currently in NYC working very hard to get the second album out and as they recently posted on facebook  "each day is a new discovery in melody and Mysticism, a journey that knows no end, we are in search of the finest gems and will not stop till we have found all 10"

Let's hope this new work makes us travel even farther than the first one, that in my case, literally makes me fantasize like crazy. And, let's hope that listening to them finally makes the sun come out after this long long winter!

Link to "Walking on a dream" website where you may find their album, videos, games... and even join the EMPIRE. Walk through it if you have time, it is worth it.

Oso Leone

I discovered this band, lets say... by chance. I ran into them gathering in the net in search for a concert for that day to take a special person out for his birthday. I just listened once or twice to a couple of songs in youtube, liked them and decided to give them a chance.

Oso Leone made that night magic at Malasaña's "Sala Taboo". They played from the heart, several instruments each of them at the same time and managed to sound dramatically harmonious. Everybody got trapped in music in that room.

This band has just published one album, yet hopefully about to publish the second (they played one or two of their new songs that day). Under these lines, apart from the link to listen to the entire "Oso Leone" record, you may find the link to "An evening with Oso Leone" and a link to free download three of their songs live ;-)

This balearic group is definitely a band to keep an eye on. I totally recommend everybody to go and watch them if you have the chance to, they sound stunning playing live. I can assure you they will make you travel far far away. Maybe to the same peaceful places they take me every time I listen to "Lobo", "Fire" or "They are".

Let's Get Started!

So… finally decided to record in a blog one of my greatest passions: MUSIC. And that’s what this blog is about. MUSIC. All kinds of it. Because I love it. And because as its title says, it makes me travel far away, when I'm in need and when I'm not.

Jet's “Are you gonna be my girl” is one of those songs that cheers my weekday mornings up. Pushes me into action. So let it get my blog started.

Enjoy. And if you don’t, just click yourself out ;-).

(Jet just recently split up, what a pity)
